Our Mission & Values
The mission of Bethany House is to identify and respond to the ever-changing needs of Toledo-area domestic violence victims and their children by providing:
- Safe, long-term transitional shelter
- Time for physical, emotional and spiritual healing
- Social services in collaboration with other community organizations
- Recreational and educational opportunities
- Community education about domestic violence
Bethany House is a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of St Francis of Sylvania, Ohio and we follow these important core values:
Bethany House welcomes domestic violence victims in the Toledo area regardless of disability, age, national origin, race, color, ancestry, family status, sex, religion, sexual orientation, gender or gender expression. Our experienced staff honors and respects each individual’s right to live their life violence-free.
Providing shelter, protection and supportive services to domestic violence victims and their children in Toledo is the focus of Bethany House. We primarily serve as advocates for families that reside in our facility, and we reach out to domestic violence victims in local homeless shelters.
Bethany House works to provide transparency in the governance and fiscal management of the ministry. Responsible grant management and fiscal checks and balances are adhered to and a yearly audit is prepared and presented to the Board of Trustees.
Bethany House realizes the importance of relationships and works to end domestic violence in our community. By helping survivors and their children, we strengthen our world and give life to our mission.
