Dear Friend,

We are soaking up the last days of summer at Bethany House even as we prepare for the events coming this fall! First up, the 2022 Northwest Ohio Silent Witness Project Unveiling Ceremony will be held on Monday, October 3rd at 6:00 pm in McMasters Theater at the Main Toledo Lucas County Public Library.

Since it’s beginning in 2001, the Northwest Ohio Silent Witness Project has remembered 126 women and girls from Northwest Ohio who were killed by their violent husband, boyfriend or partner.

While the stories are often graphic and always heartbreaking, we share them for a positive purpose. We tell the stories to remember woman and girls who are murdered by intimate partners, raise awareness of the extent of domestic violence in our communities, advocate for and connect people with local resources for ending the violence in their lives, and encourage community and legislative action to end domestic violence in our society.

Committing to honor these victims and their loved ones with our attention and awareness can lead us to bolder action. We must continue to act on behalf of victims of domestic violence who are still with us. Survivors deserve our very best efforts to create systems and policies that believe, protect, and prioritize their well-being and safety.

We hope you will join us on October 3rd to remember the 51 women and girls who were killed in Northwest Ohio in the last decade.
